Centex Homes started out in Dallas, Texas in 1950, and has been building homes in Illinois for more than 50 years. From the start, Centex Homes has been on the cutting edge of technological advances in construction, and has numerous awards and accolades to show for its efforts. In the 1950s, Centex Homes was credited with developing Elk Grove Village, IL, the nation’s first master-planned community. The "new city" debuted in 1957 with such innovations as underground utilities and phone lines, a first in the United States.
